About the GMAT
The GMAT Focus Edition is a brand new version of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), launched on November 7, 2023. It's designed to be more focused, accessible, and relevant to the skills needed for today's business programs.

The GMAT Focus is a streamlined version of the classic GMAT. It caters to modern business needs with a shorter format (2 hours 15 minutes) and fewer sections (Quantitative, Verbal, and Data Insights). Gone are the Analytical Writing and Integrated Reasoning sections, replaced by a data-driven focus in the new Data Insights section. Verbal Reasoning emphasizes critical reasoning over grammar, while Quantitative Reasoning prioritizes problem-solving types of questions.

Q: Why was the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) removed from the GMAT™ Exam?
A: The GMAT™ exam was redesigned to focus on problem solving, critical thinking, and data literacy skillsets especially relevant and applicable in the business environment of tomorrow. Additionally, schools also often have essays incorporated into their application processes. So, it was decided to remove AWA from the GMAT exam.

Q: Why did GMAC remove Sentence Correction from the GMAT™ Exam?
A: The Verbal Reasoning section of the exam largely tests a test taker’s critical reasoning and reading comprehension skills. So, it was decided to remove sentence correction from the Verbal Reasoning section.

Q: Can I cancel my GMAT Exam Score?
A: Yes, you can cancel your GMAT score immediately after the test. If you did not cancel your score at the test center, you can also cancel the accepted score online within 72 hours of your test completion by paying $25.

Q: How many times can I retake the GMAT test?
A: You can take the GMAT exam 5 times in a rolling 12-month period and 8 times in a lifetime. You can take all of your exam attempts at a test center or online, or a combination of both.

Q: Do I need a GMAT score for INSEAD Executive MBA?
A: The EMBA applicants can choose between the 3 exams. INSEAD accepts GMAT, GMAC Executive Assessment (EA) Test, or their internal INSEAD EMBA Assessment Test.

Q: What is the INSEAD EMBA Admissions Test?
A: At the time of application for the INSEAD EMBA program, the applicant needs to mention their intent to take the INSEAD Test. The Admissions team will review your application and invite you for the Assessment Day at the INSEAD campus.
